FAQ

How can I use a product with a Rebel Licenses On-Premise license when offline?

For more information, please refer to the offline seats chapter of this manual. Look up the relevant product setup and look for info about going offline within the corresponding section.

What are Rebel Licenses On-Premise minimum requirements?

Rebel Licenses On-Premise requires Java 8 to operate. The future releases of Rebel Licenses On-Premise might require Java 11 as the minimum Java version.

Rebel Licenses On-Premise has been built to run on any modern server hardware. Other minimum requirements include:

  • At least 100 MB of hard disk space for the main application.

  • The log file size and database size are dependant on Rebel Licenses On-Premise usage. We recommend keeping at least 1 GB of hard disk space available at any time. Setting the log level to debug or trace will have an impact on log file size.

How long is a seat valid?

Seats are permanently assigned to developers – they will not be returned to the seat pool when the developer is not actively using their license.

The client checks against the server after every 60 minutes. If you have checked out an offline seat, the client will not ping the server while the offline seat remains valid (1 to 15 days).

How can I remove users from Rebel Licenses On-Premise?

You can block Rebel Licenses On-Premise users from the Users section. This user will still show up in user history, but will no longer be able to obtain a seat. This functionality is designed for scenarios where an employee has left the company and no longer requires the seat. The EULA stipulates that once a managed seat is assigned, it should not change ownership until the end of the license period.

Does Perforce host a public instance of the Rebel Licenses On-Premise?

Yes. Your licenses are delivered through Rebel Licenses. When making a purchase, you will receive an activation link by email. Activating your account automatically enables you to distribute your licenses without having to set up Rebel Licenses On-Premise. Please refer to the Rebel Licenses for more information.

Can I move a Rebel Licenses On-Premise installation?

Yes. You can move the Rebel Licenses On-Premise installation to a new machine or location. Follow these steps to achieve this.

  1. Copy the contents of the Rebel Licenses On-Premise folder (including the data folder) to the new location.

  2. Upon starting, Rebel Licenses On-Premise itself will need to be reactivated. This does not erase copied license and database information.

  3. All Rebel Licenses On-Premise users need to reactivate their JRebel and/or XRebel clients using the new Rebel Licenses On-Premise Team URL.

Perforce permits a seven day transition period for moving a Rebel Licenses On-Premise installation. Perforce monitors these events to prevent misuse.
