Enable automatic build compilation

Get an improved JRebel development experience by enabling automatic build compilation:

  1. Access Settings (Preferences on macOS).

  2. Select Build, Execution, Deployment > Compiler. Enable Build project automatically.

  3. Select Appearance & Behavior > System Settings. Enable Save files automatically if application is idle for. We recommend setting it to 10 seconds. (This is already enabled by default on IntelliJ 2018.1 and earlier.)

  4. Press OK.

  5. Go to Advanced Settings and click to select the checkbox Allow auto-make to start even if developed application is currently running (IntelliJ IDEA 15 and newer).
